Control Panels for Electric Bow and Stern Thrusters The main characteristics of these control panels are:
- Built-in time lapse device when reversing the direction of rotation
- Protected against accidental or unauthorized operation.
- Stand-by position is indicated on the panel by means of a LED
- Automatic switch off after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- Warning LED and buzzer in the event of continuous running for more
than 2 minutes. In this event the thruster will be switched off, but ready for
service again after 5 seconds time lapse.
- Control circuit overload protection.
- Watertight to IP 65

 | VETUS BPSP SERIES PARALLEL SWITCH 24V TO 12V FOR OPERATING BOW16024A 114MSCBPSP
The 160 kgf Bow Thruster is only available with a 24 Volt DC electric motor. By installing a series/parallel switch in a 12 Volt main power supply system it is possible that:
- the 24 Volt bow thruster will work using 2 (12 Volt) batteries in series
connection, so as to obtain the required 24 Volt voltage.
- the batteries can be charged: the 2 (12 Volt) batteries are connected in
parallel and linked to the 12 Volt charging system.
This series/parallel switch comes complete with pre-assembled auxilliary relays to ensure easy connection to the bow thruster. When the batteries, installed for the bow thruster, are being used for other 12 Volt consumers as well, it should be considered that both batteries will supply 12 Volt to the consumers via the charging wires and via the charging contacts of the series/parallel switch. The rating for continuous duty of the charging contacts of the series/parallel switch is maximum 60A. As a consequence, never use these batteries as starter batteries and never connect an anchor windlass to these battereies.
