Vetus Automatic Pilot

An automatic pilot is an electronically operated control unit ensuring accurate following of a set course, without any further action being taken by the helmsman. Keeping the boat on course by continuous (over)steering becomes unnecessary by installing an automatic pilot. The Vetus automatic pilot is suitable for motorboats, sailing yachts and smaller commercial craft. All installation components for connection to a hydraulic steering system are available.

The Vetus Automatic Pilot consists of the following components:

• the fluxgate sensor compass (1).
• the computer unit (2), for 12 Volt or 24 Volt D.C. unit integrated in the control panel
• the rudder feedback transmitter (3).
• all necessary special cables with multi-plugs.

Available as optional equipment:
• a control panel (watertight) for a second steering position is available as an option (4).
• Electro hydraulic pump (5).

The Vetus model AP2S offers many features

In addition to the indication of the actual course, the rudder position and the deviation from the programmed course, it enables the skipper to immediately resume control of the boat himself, simply by actuating the integrated ministeering wheel; in which case the automatic pilot acts as
a power steering device. This model also has a MOB (man overboard) feature which causes the boat to make an immediate 180° turn.

IMPORTANT!

In this VETUS automatic pilot the effect of heeling and acceleration are effectively countered. These assets make this type of autopilot excellently suited for application on sailing yachts and fast motor cruisers.

Dimensions:

The dimensions of the housing are 156 x 94 x 48 mm deep.
This VETUS AP2S is available for recessed installation or for top mounting. The computer unit is integrated into the housing of the control panel, which saves installation time.
Suitable for both 12 and 24 Volt D.C.

Designed to work in conjunction with most types of GPS

The VETUS automatic pilot model AP2S has been designed to work in conjunction with most types of G.P.S. equipped with a NMEA0183 interface. The autopilot recognises automatically the following types of data input: APB, BWC and HSC (according to NMEA0183). The autopilot will steer the boat accurately according to the course instructions introduced into the G.P.S. unit, including any change of course at “way points”.
