Sure Power Line Battery Isolators

Battery Sensed Isolator.
Modern Voltage Regulators fall into two groups: Battery Sensed Regulators, which have their sensing point on the battery. Machine Sensed Regulators, which have their sensing point on or in the alternator. It is important to determine the type of sensing being used;
- in order to avoid 0.8 voltage drop in the charging system.
- to determine the type of isolator to be installed.
Sure Power Machine Sensed Isolators were specifically designed with a compensation diode for the European market and properly installed will not suffer from 0.8 voltage drop.
The Sure Power range of battery isolators, known to us better as blocking diodes. All units suitable for up to 36V systems. Negative earth.
Sure Power Isolators can be used for single or twin engine (1 or 2 alternator) installations.

Zinc Saver II Galvanic Isolators

Zinc Saver II Galvanic Isolators

Interrupts galvanic circuit with other boats and the dock when your boat is plugged into a shore power system. Maintains AC safety ground and solves most common cause of galvanic corrosion. Protects against zinc loss. Tested to ne ABYC A-28 recommendations for galvanic isolators. The Zinc Saver II available in two versions, the standard version without capacitor and a version with a capacitor. There are those who believe the addition of this capacitor provides additional protection from stray AC current in the galvanic system. While the ABYC recommendation does not require a capacitor the specification allows for it.
Dissimilar metals (dissimilar meaning they have a different position on the Noble Scale) attached together in an electrolyte (current carrying liquid or paste) from a battery with voltage and current. The metal nearer the magnesium end of the Noble Scale is more active and will erode, protecting the metal toward the gold side of the Noble Scale. The further apart on the scale, the higher the voltage difference and activity. Example: flashlight battery - two common metals and an electrolyte paste that produce 1.5 volts when connected through a flashlight bulb. Note: the metals we use on boats are a mixture of metals. To make a battery just add water.

When the relative voltage of immersed metals is raised 250 millivolts or more above its normal voltage that metal will not corrode. An immersed zinc attached to all our immersed fittings, if large enough, will raise the relative voltage, sacrificing itself to protect these immersed fittings. Similarly, an outboard or outdrive will sacrifice itself protecting bronze fittings, an immersed attached zinc would protect both. This zinc actually forms a more active battery than we had originally, but the damage is confined to the zinc itself.
