Ecofans

Ecofans

The Caframo Ecofan is a heat powered fan designed to circulate the warm air created by a wood stove. This fan does not use any batteries or mains electricity.

IDEAL FOR NARROW BOATS

These fans have a thermoelectric module which acts as a small generator to power the fan's motor. When this generator experiences a heat differential between its top and bottom surfaces, it pumps out electricity. The bottom surface of the module is heated by the base of the fan while the top of the module is kept cooler by the fan's top cooling fins.

INCREASED EFFICIENCY
Warm air is circulated directly into the living area rather than having most of your stove's heat rise immediately to the ceiling, thereby increasing the heating efficiency of your stove.

EASY OPERATION
Ecofans start automatically and adjust speed with the stove temperature.

COSTS NOTHING TO OPERATE
Ecofans use only the heat from your stove.

CONSTRUCTION
Ecofans are made from anodised aluminium that will not rust. Bi-metal strips in the base of the Ecofans help prevent the fan from overheating.

We recommend the associated use of the Stovepipe Thermometers as shown below.

Ensure your stove is operating at the correct temperature by using this magnetic thermometer that attaches to your stove pipe. If your stove is too cold then creosote deposits will form, if its too hot then you are wasting energy and could damage your Ecofan

EcoFan Operating Instructions The Ecofan Airplus is designed to be used on freestanding woodstoves with normal surface temperatures of 400 - 650°F for optimum performance. Temperatures above 650°F (340°C) will damage your Ecofan. Heat sensitive springs will gently tilt the fan as your stove’s temperature increases. A small tilt (the gap between the front of the Ecofan base and stove) of about 2 mm is good. A large tilt of over 5 mm means your stove is too hot.

Good wood stove safety practice includes using a stove thermometer. This will help ensure that your fan is not used if your stove is heated over 650° F.

For optimum performance placement on the stove’s surface is critical. Be sure to position the Ecofan on the stovetop so that cool air will be drawn over the cooling fins. The Ecofan should not be used directly in front of the stove pipe or at the front of the stove.

NOTE: Overheating will reduce the Ecofan’s effectiveness and may damage the power generator and void the warranty. Remove Ecofan from stove if temperatures exceed 650°F (340°C).
